Rotimi’s quick tips for Establishing Your Brand

In the Fall of 2016, I registered for the Gustavus Entrepreneurship course. For a long time I had ideas on changing the way event sharing was done on campus, but I told myself I could follow these pursuits on my own, outside of the classroom. I ended up making this my entrepreneurship project for that semester. Things started to happen fast, and I started to gain new insights on this potential business. I was being forced to think about my ideas everyday because of this class. One thing led to another and was able to start figuring out how I wanted to build this app that would solve the problem I wanted to. Eight months later in May of 2017, I was able to launch this app on my campus and to go unto the campus of Carleton to do the same. I figured out this guide could help someone who was in the same position I was in the Fall of 2016. It is basically a quick guide of how to establish your brand successfully and go online. Establishing a brand successfully doesn’t entail running or owning a successful business. I myself understand that at any point in time things could change I don’t know what the future entails for Venew (my Internet business), but I can only find out if I take a shot at tomorrow.

You will find many many many many challenges working on whatever business it is you are working on, but you cannot afford to get discouraged once you commit. Imagine being in a dark place, a very dark place say a forest, and it starts raining heavily and you need to find a shelter, but you can’t see anything. You have to options, first is to wait till the rain stops (which may not be anytime soon), and second is to keep walking in the dark till you find a shelter. You may never find that shelter, but in order to have a chance of finding it, you have to keep walking even if you don’t know where you’re going. You don’t need to know where you’re going, or where you’re present actions may take you, all you need to know is where you want to be (that shelter), you have to keep walking and keep moving to get there. There will always be challenges in whatever business you are trying to get into, but you know the problem you want to solve (and make sure to get into something you’re passionate about or skillful/experienced in), don’t let these challenges stop you from walking, you have to keep walking so you can find that shelter. Hope my guide may help you find that shelter.
